Michelle A. Herrera, PhD

Michelle Herrera, Ph.D. consults with nonprofit legal service organizations to promote workplace effectiveness and overall well-being. Her interests include promoting equity for culturally diverse and marginalized groups, as well as enhancing productivity for individuals working with highly traumatized populations. Michelle has extensive training in forensic psychology* and has worked with varying trauma-exposed populations, including active and veteran servicemen and women, incarcerated mothers, and immigrants and refugees. She has a special interest in consulting with organizations that emphasize social justice and policy reform. Michelle has provided services to immigration/refugee organizations, family legal groups, and crisis response teams, among others. She is personally engaged in nonprofit work including her work with the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) at the United Nations and her annual services trips as a volunteer legal aid for the Dilley Pro Bono Project, where she interviews women and children at a family detention center in order to provide legal aid and education prior to in-house credible fear interviews. Through her work as a consultant she leads resilience groups, provides individual resilience coaching, and promotes wellness in the workplace through presentations, feedback sessions and co-leading WorkHaven’s Assessment and Metrics Program, ensuring that consultations are effectively implemented.
